Collaboration to enable innovative facility management

Johor Corporation’s (JCorp) wholly-owned subsidiary Damansara Assets Sdn Bhd (DASB) has signed agreements with Cenergi EE Holdings Sdn Bhd (Cenergi) to offer innovative facility management services.

DASB managing director Hazman Hilmi Sallahuddin said the collaboration was integrated with zero upfront capital solar energy and energy efficiency programmes, aside from offering end-to-end solution for sustainable building management services at buildings owned or managed by DASB and potentially to other building owners.

“DASB will also provide its commercial real estate and building management services, while Cenergi will complement the services as a developer, investor and operator of rooftop solar and energy-efficiency programmes, ” he explained.

He said this in his speech at the MOU signing ceremony between DASB and Cenergi group chief executive officer Hairol Azizi Tajudin.

Present as witnesses were JCorp real estate and infrastructure division director and DASB director Datuk Akmal Ahmad and Khazanah Nasional Bhd executive director Amran Hafiz Affifudin.

Hazman said the end-to-end solution offered was aimed at contributing towards energy and cost savings by retrofitting buildings with rooftop solar photovoltaics (PV) and optimised electrical equipment.

“This is achieved through third party development, operation and financing programmes, known as Solar Power Purchase Agreement (SPPA) and Energy Savings Performance Agreement (ESPA).

“The SPPA and ESPA programmes help building owners generate their own clean energy, reduce carbon footprint and save electricity costs with zero capital outlay and zero financial risks, ” he said, adding that a percentage of the savings from the reduced electricity bills would be taken as service payments for the duration of both programmes.

Hazman said the buildings identified included the B5 Johor Street Market, @mart Kempas (solar panel), Menara Komtar and Galleria Kotaraya (energy efficiency).

“We expect the electricity bills at these buildings to be reduced by 10% to 20%, depending on the type and level of retrofitting works, ” he said, adding that the project was expected to be completed by the second quarter of the year.

Meanwhile, Hairol Azizi said the joint venture also looked at offering the end-to-end solution to building owners across the country.

“This partnership is a symbol of DASB’s trust in our ability to execute our projects as well as meet energy savings and energy production targets, ” he added.
