Cenergi Wins 2 Awards at ASEAN Energy Awards 2025

Kuala Lumpur, 17 October 2025 – Cenergi SEA Berhad (Cenergi), a subsidiary of UEM
Lestra Berhad, has earned notable regional recognition by securing two awards at the ASEAN
Energy Awards 2025 in the Renewable Energy – On Grid (National Grid) category.

The awards were presented by YBM [Name Pending] during a ceremony held on 16 October
2025, in conjunction with the 43rd ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM) and the 25th
ASEAN Energy Business Forum (AEBF-25) at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Cenergi’s award-winning projects are:

  1. Cenergi West 1.56MW Biogas Plant, Pulau Carey, Selangor – Winner, High –
Performing Palm Oil Mill Effluent Biogas Power Plant with Impactful CSR Programme

Recognised for operational excellence and strong community engagement, this facility
exemplifies sustainable waste-to-energy generation from palm oil wastes alongside
impactful CSR initiatives that benefit the local community.
  2. Cenergi NEDA Power 11.3MWp Solar Farm, Sg. Tiang, Kedah – 1st Runner-Up,
    Pioneering Merchant Solar Generator

As Malaysia’s pioneering merchant solar agrivoltaics plant, this project is an early initiator
in energy market liberalisation by enabling clean energy generation for direct sale to the
national grid at System Marginal Price.

These awards complement Cenergi’s growing track record as Malaysia’s largest grid-connected
Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) biogas developer, supported by a diverse portfolio
that includes biomethane, solar, small hydro and energy efficiency projects nationwide.

Cenergi SEA Group Chief Executive Officer, Ir. Kwok Yew Hoe, said, “Cenergi SEA has
always placed emphasis on innovation as a driver of growth in the energy transition. We are
honoured to be recognised at the ASEAN level and this award is a testament to the team’s
dynamism. As ASEAN moves towards a cleaner and more integrated energy future, Cenergi
continues to explore innovative methods to transform waste into clean energy solutions while
actively minimising carbon emissions.

Apart from developing renewable energy plants, Cenergi advances sustainable energy
development through developing Carbon Credits and Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs).
In 2024, Cenergi had issued Malaysia’s first Verra-certified Carbon Credits from Palm Oil Mill
Effluent (POME) biogas plant, which were successfully auctioned at Bursa Carbon Exchange
(BCX) in mid-2025. Cenergi is assessing various pathways to contribute to the
decarbonisation of the aviation sector, including the potential of issuing Carbon Credits in
compliance with CORSIA guidelines.

Cenergi recognises the vital contributions of key authorities and regulators — including the
Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) and the Energy Commission (ST) —
whose supportive policies are instrumental in driving Malaysia’s transition towards a cleaner,
more sustainable energy future.
