Biogas is a key pillar of Cenergi’s renewable energy strategy. By capturing methane from palm oil mill effluent (POME) — a by-product of Malaysia’s palm oil industry — we turn waste into clean, reliable energy that supports the country’s decarbonisation goals and improves waste management practices.

With over 30 projects across Malaysia and Indonesia and a total installed capacity of 52.8 MW, Cenergi is one of the region’s leading biogas developers.

Our biogas initiatives focus on two main pathways:

• Biogas to Electricity – Supplying renewable power to the national grid

• Bio-Compressed Natural Gas (BioCNG) – Producing low-carbon fuel for industrial and transport use

Both solutions play a vital role in reducing emissions, promoting sustainable palm oil, and expanding clean energy access — especially in rural and off-grid areas.
