KUALA LUMPUR: Cenergi SEA Bhd’s subsidiary, Cenergi RE Sdn Bhd, has partnered with Sime Darby Industrial Sdn Bhd (SDI) to provide maintenance services for Cenergi’s Caterpillar biogas gensets installed at various locations throughout Malaysia.
In a statement today, Cenergi SEA said the maintenance service agreement (MSA) would be for five years, effective November 1, 2021, until the end of 2026.
The MSA also include the maintenance of potential additional Caterpillar gensets.
SDI’s scope of work will include preventive and corrective maintenance, technical support, and the supply of Caterpillar parts for the gensets, among others.
Cenergi SEA group chief executive officer Hairol Azizi Tajudin said the MSA is part of the company’s prudent initiative to optimise maintenance costs for the growing population of Caterpillar biogas gensets within Cenergi’s biogas power plants asset portfolio.
“It also ensures reliable operation of these gensets through the supply of maintenance services and Caterpillar original parts to be provided by SDI.
“The optimisation will improve the overall project return to our shareholders,” he said.
The MSA between SDI and Cenergi is the culmination of a working relationship that started in 2019, with Cenergi’s acquisition of the Tennamaram biogas power plant and signing a frame agreement for eight units of biogas gensets in Peninsular Malaysia.
SDI managing director CK Teoh said the company is a proponent of renewable and clean energy and recognised as a certified local manufacturer assembler by the Sustainable Energy Development Authority Malaysia (SEDA).
“We are proud to offer a complete range of power solutions, from power plant design to combined heat and power units, including fuel treatment systems for extended service intervals.
“The Caterpillar gas gensets we offer are equipped to run on biogas fuels, producing between 70 to 3,770kW within a single generator.
“They are designed to significantly cut fuel consumption, reduce carbon footprint and waste while maximising return on investment for our customers,” he said.
Teoh said SDI’s strategic collaboration with Cenergi has been beneficial to both parties.
“We are excited to take our partnership to the next level. We are grateful for Cenergi’s trust in us, and we will continue to do our utmost to ensure that the biogas engines are well maintained and managed in the years to come,” he added.
Cenergi SEA, a subsidiary of Khazanah Nasional Bhd, is a premier sustainable energy solutions company specialising in reducing carbon emissions.
It is the largest grid-connected palm oil mill effluent (POME) biogas power plant developer in Malaysia.
Cenergi SEA also has operational power generation projects across biogas and solar segments and energy efficiency businesses.
To date, Cenergi has 10 operating biogas power plants across Malaysia and Indonesia.
It is also currently developing and constructing seven other biogas power plants, which will be operational between the fourth quarter (Q4) 2021 and first quarter (Q1) 2023, giving it a total of 17 biogas power plants capable of generating up to 30.55MW of electricity.
SDI is a unit under Sime Darby Bhd’s industrial division and an authorised distributor of Caterpillar heavy equipment and machinery, including marine engines, power systems, generators, and other industrial products.
The company is mainly involved in the sales, distribution and after-sales technical support services of the machinery.
